Wallace is a toaster. Their brain is constantly mush. There are no thoughts behind their eyes. Whirligig is a rather silly little fellow who is simultaneously the goofiest little lad you'll ever meet in your life but also an inter-dimensional angel sent down to the Earth to act out the will of God himself, but they actually decided to spend their time tormenting people with their musical instruments and sneaking into the back of golf carts to ride around golf courses.
