Hiroto Oshita, known to most as "Hiro-kun" or "Oshi", is an Aroumokin ghoul* who resides in the city known as Ginsenyoko. He came to this area along with his childhood friend and current crush, Alberto Izzo, as a means of both following a strong desire to protect his crush and start a new life alongside him as well. He currently works as a barista, though many assume by the way he dresses that he works for the local arcade.
Coming from a rather strict family background, Hiroto often found himself attempting to overachieve in every little thing he did. Whether it was aiming to be in the top of his classes, or if it was managing his popularity in terms of how many people he spoke to regularly, he always strived to be the absolute best that he could muster. This created an air of perfectionism around him, something he still struggles with to this day. However, the pressure from his parents started to become unbearable, which would be a contributing factor into him moving away from home.
Hiroto canonically has a long-standing crush on Alberto, starting back when they were both in middle school. Interacting with him a lot during their younger years, they became relatively close friends. Some would say that they were inseparable, as Hiroto often sought comfort in Alberto. However, as they both moved into high school, Hiro found it harder and harder to interact with Alberto on account of his growing popularity and social circle. As a result, he began to watch Alberto from a distance, even if he was talking with others. While it started off innocent enough, it would soon escalate into Hiroto obsessively messaging Alberto every single day during certain time frames, usually during their lunch period, and for about 2-3 hours after school. This would soon grow deeper, as Hiroto would come to learn of Alberto's obsession with the scientist Vertigo V. Marchesini. This would cause Hiroto to begin physically stalking him more on a regular basis, trying to see what could potentially bring his attention back to him. This would go on for years to come while Alberto remained blissfully unaware.
Currently, after months of convincing, Hiroto lives with Alberto, his kids, and his roommates. Alberto still has no idea about Hiroto stalking him for years on end, and it was played off as a "coincidence" that they just so happened to be involved in the same program that Ginsenyoko holds.
Physically, Hiroto is fit, strong, and generally healthy. His hair has a physical mutation, similar to that of a "mood ring", in which his hair tips change colour based on how he's feeling, adding onto the smoke variants that he produces as a result. Though he has full control of his smoke creation, using them mainly to help his friends and loved ones, should they be under a lot of stress.
Mentally from an outsider's perspective, Hiroto is seen as generally very normal. However, under his usual masking, he suffers from Obsessive Love Disorder, shows signs of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (though is currently undiagnosed), and struggles with trauma surrounding female figures in his life. This comes as a result of his mother often hitting him with even the slightest mistake being made for any reason, or screaming at him when he tries to do things in a different way, as well as his younger sisters often scrutinizing him for being considered "different" from them, calling him all sorts of degrading things before his transition and often pressuring him into silence if he so much as tried to talk back. He is also extremely self conscious about his mind altering smoke, and often finds the scent of the film protecting his skin generally unpleasant, resulting in him dousing himself in body spray on a regular basis.
While Hiroto may have had a long-standing crush on Alberto, he is completely content with having Alberto as a brother whom he holds close to his heart.
*Aroumokin Ghoul: Ghouls who can create mind-altering smoke through their mouths, originating from the 5th Circle of the Underworld (ruled by the Demon Lord Talok, the sin of Pride). These creatures are often enslaved and used for aromatherapy or manipulation of others in accordance to the wishes of their owner. Their monster form is generally tall and lanky, hair reaching the lower back in an array of colours as their ash-coloured skin protects them from the effects of the smoke they create. A good chunk of these ghouls do not have eyes, making human disguises difficult, but for the rare ones that do, their human disguises are often so plain that no one could point them out in a large crowd, making it easier to target large groups out of pure malice if desired.
Hiroto is a generally happy-go-luck guy who thrives in socializing. While he may have his issues, his personality can be best described as bold, upbeat, and generally loud towards those he is close to. He is also considered very kindhearted and often will do anything and everything to keep those close to him safe.
