SKIPLOID (スキップロイド) also known as Skippy is a Japanese voicebank for the UTAU voice synthesizer created and voiced by Pokeluver223. He acts as the creators persona and mascot.

History[]

SKIPLOID made his YouTube debut on August 3, 2011. As this was the creator's first attempt at using creating an UTAU voicebank, the voice was of a low quality and was not released.[1]

SKIPLOID was re-recorded later in the year and released on October 30, 2011 as a Japanese CV voicebank with an accompanying updated MMD model.[2]

In March 2012, SKIPLOID received an update to the original Act.2, (now known as Act 2.3). The voicebank was re-recorded and OTO'd by RyukaK and MeoRoo.

Two years after the release of his CV voicebank, SKIPLOID received a newly recorded Japanese VCV voicebank.[3] The vocal was OTO'd and programmed by ryan-kun12 and released January 6, 2015.[4] He received a new official illustration designed by MonochromeAgent and an original MikuMikuDance model was created by PolygonCount and was distributed alongside the UTAU release.

An update to SKIPLOID's VCV voicebank was teased on January 2, 2017.[5] The voicebank is currently in development. A new illustration was planned for the library and sketched by MonochromeAgent. The voicebank was put into long-term hiatus.

Concept[]

SKIPLOID is a 20-year old anthropomorphic, fun loving and energetic husky who enjoys the outdoors, singing, swimming, dancing and drawing. He is typically shy around others. He is usually seen with a sketchbook in hand or microphone. He hates bugs and loves Vanilla ice cream. He will usually go by the nickname Skippy.

Appearance[]

SKIPLOID has gone through various design changes since his debut.

In 2011, SKIPLOID donned an outfit similar to that of the VOCALOID2 BIG AL as BIG AL is his creators favorite VOCALOID character. He had a long thin cat-like tail and cyan-colored fur.[6][7]

For his first UTAU release, the design was changed to have a more wolf-like tail. Still retaining the same overall outfit.[8]

For his Act. 2.3 design, SKIPLOID's design was modified slightly donning a bass-clef collar and having a more husky-like curled tail.[9]

In late 2012, in preparation for SKIPLOID's upcoming SKIPLOID VCV release, his design was drastically changed. While retaining his same hair, eyes, collar and tail, the outfit was upgraded to a black and blue leotard, a pair of blue-striped black pants adorned with blue belts hanging from his hips and a white and black hoodie with the numbers "02-23" written on the back.[10][11]
