Carlos Aguilar has not had an easy life. Becoming an orphan and being juggled around foster homes at the age of 5, he hasn't had much of a place to call "home". When he did, however, it was a wonderful life. His parents were a fairly new couple, but they gave Carlos their everything, even if they were living in poverty. Carlos' father would take him on long walks to the gas station to get him sodas and candy when they could afford it, just to have father-son bonding time. His mother would often take him to the park, where he learned how to make flower crowns. He loved his parents so much, so losing them was his worst nightmare. One day, while visiting a mall, a mass shooting occurred, taking the lives of 14 people, 2 of them being Carlos' parents. Carlos, being in shock, didn't understand what was happening, and thought that his trip on the ambulance was just a fun detour on his mall trip.
In the hospital, a woman in hot pink scrubs took care of him, giving him the utmost care and compassion. When he was moved to the foster care system, he was devastated. Losing his parents and this nice woman broke him, and he began developing a fear of leaving the house. Taking care of him became increasingly difficult, as his illnesses worsened, and trauma took a toll on him. Because of this, he was juggled between homes, constantly causing problems and breaking rules that got him kicked out. Turning 18 didn't make anything better either. Exiting the system threw him for a loop, as he had nothing much to live off of. He picked up a job as a babysitter, but that barely made him enough to afford rent and food, much less anything else. After 2 years of living like this, he drove a knife into his stomach, attempting to end his own life.
If it weren't for the fear of death kicking in last second, he probably wouldn't have called 911.
After his time in the hospital, he was admitted to Pine Valley Asylum, a place that was always just a little too bright inside and looked horribly bleak on the outside. He has stayed there for two years, experiencing constant hallucinations and refusing to take his medication by tricking the staff. He does all this to see his beloved NURSE, a woman closely resembling the lady that took care of him in the hospital shortly after his parents' death. She is so kind to him, and he wants to do nothing but hurt for her. He fully understands that pain from her is love, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
Yet, when Everly was admitted, things became a little strange. She looked too similar to the woman who took care of him, and he quickly fell under the delusion that she and the NURSE were connected somehow. He needs to become close to her, because it's obvious that she's already in love, or, that's what he believes.
Carlos [ FREEDOM ]
In the story of Pine Valley Asylum, one month after him and Everly were released, they reconnected. Falling in love once more, the two hit it off and officially became a couple. Four years later, him and Everly have a child and two cats together, living happily married as a family. He no longer sees NURSE, and he's okay with that.
