Aya Mugen (無限 綺) is a voicebank for the UTAU program.
History[]
Project Aya Mugen (previously named Ayagozen Mugen; Aya's Journal) is an UTAU project started in 2015 by ex-UTAU user Iced Mocha. The original project was to develop a group of 3 virtual singers who together told a fantasy inspired story through their music. The project got discontinued in 2018. Mocha handed over the first finished design, Ayagozen Mugen, to Arreen.
Aya was released on 18-04-2021 by Arreen, who provided new designs and vocals for the character.
Project Aya´s Journal[]
The project 'Aya's Journal' was supposed to tell the story of 3 virtual singers, playing the role of the main characters in their very own fantasy story. The story was about the dynamic between the past, the present and the future. Each period of time was represented by their own character: Zutto (the past), Aya (the present) and Mirai (the future). The original project got discontinued due to the creator Mocha losing interest in vocal synthesizers.
At that time, only the main character 'Ayagozen Mugen' had a conceptual design and a beta version of a CV UTAU voicebank. The character was handed over to a new manager, Arreen, a close friend who was involved with the project from the very beginning. She began to combine Aya's aesthetic with traditional Japanese folklore. In this progress, Aya's name changed from 'Ayagozen Mugen' to 'Aya Mugen (無限 綺)' because the original connection between her siblings was lost.
Design[]
Aya's current design is based on the Okuri-inu (送り犬) yokai, also known as the escorting-dog. There are stories of the okuri-inu from the Tōhoku region to Kyushu, but depending on the area it can be a wolf as well as a dog. Aya's design uses both dog and wolf aspects. The color of her hair, ears and her tail is inspired by a golden retriever dog. The shape of her ears and tail plus her grey eyecolor are inspired by a wolf. Aya wears a traditional black/purple kimono with a modern twist. Her sleeves and bow in the middle show purple sakura petals. Under her eyes are red markings, these are inspired by Japanese kitsune and wolf masks.
Aya's color scheme (light purple and dark purple) is inspired by the colors of the night. The golden accents represent the stars in a dark night sky.
