Aphelia (アフェリア) is a character for UTAU, owned and voiced by heta-tan.
History[]
Aphelia was originally conceptualized and released under the name "Mayu Wakana/若菜マユ". Their first demo was released July 7th, 2012 with their first full voicebank release being on March 20th, 2013. Under the Mayu moniker, they received several voicebanks:
- CV Act 1 and 2 in 2012 (Neither of these were released publicly)
- CV Act 3 + Soft Append (These were both one bank), CV Act 4 and FINALE (This was considered their last primary CV bank) in 2013
- Opera CV, VCV, GALACTIC , CVVC English (Never released) in 2014
- ASCENSION (Multiexpression VCV) , COSMOS (Multiexpression CVVC), and -DARK ENERGY- (Multiexpression "Jazz" CVVC) in 2016
With their VCCV English beta bank release in 2017, their English vocals began going by name "Aphelia" and began to receive a major redesign/revamp of their design and character. Their Japanese banks remained under the "Mayu Wakana" name though they were both considered to be the same character and used the same design/lore. The creator's reasoning being that "Aphelia" was the character's real name and "Mayu" being a stage name/alias.
Once -SATELLITE-, a multiexpression Japanese CVVC voicebank, was released in late 2017, the character was fully changed to being Aphelia regardless of the language of the vocals and has stayed that way since.
In December of 2018, a multiexpression Japanese CVVC voicebank, -stratosphere-, was released to replace -SATELLITE-.
Character Information[]
Aphelia is a happy-go-lucky alien scientist that landed on Earth to do "research" although they mainly sit around. They are horrified at the alien stereotypes they see in movies and on TV because "that's not how we are". They are quite friendly and willing to help anyone in need, though at first, they may strike those who don't know them as being really serious and aloof upon first meeting.
Often they are in their own world, doing their own thing. They are often unaware of the social atmosphere and can come off as painfully awkward since they don't always understand aspects of the alien society around them. They are eager to learn and have a thirst for knowledge that can lead them to odd places. Aphelia has an interest in human technology and culture mainly because it seems so archaic to them.
- They are offended by the alien stereotypes they see in human science fiction.
- Strangely enough, their favorite show is the 1980's sitcom "Alf" as it's partially where they got their nickname from.
- They are very interested in anime/cartoons and video games, especially magical girls. They have based most of their outfits off of these anime girls.
- Are amphibious/a great swimmer
- Their favorite food is chicken nuggets
Etymology[]
- Aphelia (/əˈfiː.lɪ.ə/ or /əˈfiː.lɛ.ə/) is the plural form of the word "Aphelion," which is the point of a celestial object's orbit when it is furthest from the sun. The word is formed from the apo- (Greek: ἀπό, away from), and the Greek word for sun, (ἥλιος, or hēlíos).
Appearance[]
- Skin tone - Lilac with naturally dark blue blush/tongue/gums/lips and eyelids. They tend to wear heavy eye makeup and lipstick. Has cyan star-shaped freckles on their cheeks and the bridge of their nose that glow in the dark. Has cyan gills on the sides of their torso that also glow in the dark.
- Hair color- Tends to be a deep violet with a pink to orange starry gradient on their right side bang. Their English banks have a violet to pink to clear/glassy starry gradient hair. Their -cygnus- bank has a deeper sunset starry gradient on their bangs. It's unknown if these are wigs or not.
- Eye color- Cyan with white pupils. Eyes glow in the dark.
- Build- Very short, slightly curvy with a flat chest. Drawing them with other body types is fine as long as they remain flat chested. Tends to always wear platform shoes to make up for their short height.

English -redux- is a multipitch VCCV English voicebank made to replace their beta VCCV voicebank released in 2017. This bank was initially released November 12th, 2020. An updated version released for Aphelia and heta-tan's birthday on January 11, 2022.

- This bank includes expression vowels for power and soft that are recorded on the same pitches. There's also an additional, newly recorded falsetto vowel set recorded at C5 though downloading the full bank includes the older set as well.

You may use this UTAU however you’d like, you do not need to ask permission to use this bank. The author merely requests that any works created with this voicebank are tagged with its name. You cannot label the voicebank by any other name, nor can you attribute the voicebank to any other author or character.
Feel free to edit the OTO.ini or FRQs included with the bank. Do not edit voice samples without permission.
Permission is not required to make violent or suggestive content. Permission is required for R-18 works of an explicit sexual nature.
